Sources state that Home Schooling, also called home school or home education, is a compelling alternative in which children are educated at home by their parents, instead of the compulsory attendance which takes place in an institution with a campus such as a public school or private school.

All over world Homeschooling has been increasing quite substantially over the last 4 years. In the United States, in 2003, approximately 1.1 million children were Home Schooled, up 29% from 850,000 in 1999. Recent figures show that Homeschooling in other Western Countries are growing as well. An example of this is an estimated 50,000 children are considered "home-schooled" in Great Britain; Australia - 26,500; and in Canada (as at 2001) it was estimated that 80,000 children were educated at home instead of a teaching facility, with the numbers continuing to increase.

Most home school education advocates have individual motivations to home-school. Academic and social results of home school education are varied and are the source of heated debate. Some feel that they can more effectively educate a student by developing an academic program to suit an individual strengths and weaknesses, especially children who are gifted or have learning disabilities. Others are religious parents who see non-religious education as contrary to their moral or religious systems. Still others feel that negative social pressures of schools, such as bullying, drugs, school violence, and other school-related problems, are a negative impact on their child's development. So many parents simply like the idea of teaching their own children rather than having someone else do so.

In many towns or cities, there are a variety of social outlets that your child can participate in, i.e. baseball leagues, soccer leagues, PAL, YMCA, community centers, etc. Joining in on any of these activities helps with the social aspect of education. Being active in your church allows your child the interaction that many say is lacking in the home school environment. Advocates of home schooling praise the communities and home school networks for the opportunities available for their child. Your child has an opportunity to socialize with other home school students as well as friends and neighbors from their area.

It has been proven in many studies, that home schooling is an effective way to educate your child. With the individual attention your child receives, on average a home school student out performs public or private schooled students by as much as 30 to 37% in all subjects. There is never any gap in their test performance because of gender or between minorities, such as what happens in public or private schooling.

A few notable home school educated individuals include the following: Thomas Edison, United States, scientist and inventor Alexander Graham Bell, Scotland, Inventor (Telephone, Hydrofoil) Dakota Fanning, United States, actress Hilary Duff, United States, Actress/Singer Charles Evans Hughes, United States, Governor of New York, United States Secretary of State, and Chief Justice of the United States, Frankie Muniz, United States, Actor Rosa Parks, United States, civil rights activist Susan La Flesche Picotte, United States, first American Indian woman physician Woodrow Wilson, United States, the only United States President to hold a Ph.D. George Washington, United States, First United States President Abraham Lincoln, United States, President during American Civil War

Just like you have chosen for your child, these people were home schooled with great success!

Benefits Of Home Schooling - Can Home Schooling Deliver Better Results Than Public Schools ?

Many public schools today are fraught with problems. For these reasons, the benefits of home schooling become more evident. Home schooling offers a way to escape these conditions and provide a true education for the child.

Parental control over the environment is a big positive factor. Public schools have disadvantages such as having too many children and not enough teachers, or issues with drugs or gangs. Benefits of home schooling including being able to avoid these situations while giving your child a real education.

For some parents, religious instruction is important. Public schools are forbidden to do any religious instruction, and sending your child to a parochial school costs a tidy sum. The best answer is a Christian home schooling curriculum. If you want a curriculum for your child that emphasizes math or science, that is available too. Chief among the benefits of home schooling is that whatever you think is most important for your child to gain from his education, you can find it with home schooling.

The home schooled student can learn at his or her own pace, within reasonable guidelines. In traditional classrooms students have to all learn the same material at the same pace, which results in some students having to move on before they understand what they're learning. The benefits of home schooling are that students can go over material until they fully understands it and they learn without fear of ridicule or risking failure.

Public schools are simply not financially able to provide hands on learning to children. For many children hands on learning has been shown to be the most beneficial. This is something that can be done easily through home schooling. One of the benefits of home schooling is that the parent can customize the curriculum to a child's particular learning style.

Aside from more directed learning, one of the benefits of home schooling is that children will also be able to gain more knowledge. A regular school isn't able to accommodate the learning needs of every child. Home schooling offers children the opportunity to not only learn more, but to learn it more efficiently.

The greatest benefit of home schooling, aside from the obvious tangible benefits, is the fact that the child can sense the deep love that they receive from their parents, as well as the trust and sense of adventure that develops between parent and child as they explore these new horizons together. Children will treasure the gift of being home schooled for the rest of their lives.

If you are planning to teach your children a second language (and studies suggest that teaching children a second language improve their general academic performance) then why not try Mandarin Chinese. As this century is likely to be the Chinese century it could be a very handy language to learn for young children.

Check out the popular, home study Chinese course, click Rocket Chinese review or better still, Rocket Chinese versus Rosetta Stone Chinese

You could have made a decision that it is the year that you will get the free home school curriculum so you can begin teaching your child at home. Whether it is the home economics curriculum or the mathematics curriculum, there is a lot that can be learned but it needs to be done under careful watch to make sure that the free home school curriculum is being taken full benefit of.

If the child is not learning, everything he or she needs to be learning from the free home school curriculum then there is something wrong for sure. If your child is not learning as well as he or she should be then it is time to speak to somebody about the entire situation. While most students learn much easier with the free home school curriculum, there are several children who do better in the public school setting. You simply need to be aware of how the child is progressing and make your decisions so that you are doing what is absolutely best for your child.

Where to Have Everything Needed

If you have finally sat down and thought everything through and still want to have your child involved in the free home school curriculum then there are ways that have to be taken. You will first have to be in contact with the local government agency which handles the entire free home school curriculum and get the paperwork started with them.

You will also probably have to speak directly to your daughter or son's old school to advise them as to what is going on. If you are a little confused, they might even be able to help by pointing you in the best direction out of all the resources which you could ever use.

You should also make sure that you are keeping in touch with other individuals who are using the free home school curriculum. In this way, you can meet those who are in the same boat as you can bounce ideas off of one another. Furthermore, by getting to talk with those who are going through the same thing as you with the free home school curriculum, you will be able to find out a lot. By staying connected with people, you can stay focused on the free home school curriculum and your child will benefit a lot from it.

If you have a duty to have a presentation, it is necessary for you to look for devices such as cheap projector bulbs and projector light bulbs. These kinds of bulb will make you easy in doing your presentation.

Affordable Home Schooling - A Better Option Than The Public School System?

Education is one of the most important obligations and what most parents care about all over the world. Many parents are discovering that it is becoming harder to deal with traditional schools without compromising the guidelines of the quality education that they want for their children. Concerns with finances as well as schools becoming more dangerous are only two of the reasons that more parents decide to use an affordable home school alternative.

Most parents want to send their children to the most elite schools. Unfortunately in today's world many parents do not make enough money to cover both basic necessities and discretionary luxuries. For some parents the answer lies in home schooling their children using affordable home school options.

It used to be that putting money in the bank or investing in an insurance policy or trust fund were good ideas to save money for your children's' education and future. Now that savings rates are so low that it is really wiser to take active steps to ensure your children's education and future. Affordable home school programs gives you the opportunity to add "sweat equity", if you will, to the equation.

Home schooling can be an excellent economic solution for parents who want to give their child the best there is in education without having the entire family suffer financially. Not only is affordable home school a viable alternative route to excellence in education, home schooled children consistently achieve high scores during standardized academic testing.

For an education plan that is tailor made to fit the individual, nothing can beat home schooling. Each child can have an affordable home school plan that takes his or her strengths and weaknesses into account. Each subject can be learned at the child's own pace. Home schooling involves both parents fully in planning, creating and implementing a curriculum that will meet the child's needs.

There are many advantages for the family when they opt for home schooling. Not only can it be affordable home school can provide more flexibility and control over family time and learning schedules. Homeschooling relieves children from facing humiliation brought on by incorrect answers, worrying about peer acceptances and other pressures found in public schooling.

An affordable home school curriculum is a fine way of developing new interests and means of learning while reinforcing traditional family values and solid education. Not only that, parents find themselves liking and being re-educated in the academic subjects that they had thought complicated and boring when they were their children's age.

Home Schooling and the Family

If a survey by the National Center For Education Statistics is to be believed, almost 1.1 million children underwent home schooling in 2005 alone. That is a great deal of children. Not so long ago, homeschooling used to be an extreme statement - something like a declaration of independence.

It was the right-wing Christians who pushed for homeschooling in the 1980's and legalized it in every State. But nowadays the typical homeschooling pupil is not religiously motivated.

Later surveys indicate that parents are quite fed up with the public school system where much of the learning is superficial and compulsory. They are also concerned about the damaging environment in school, ranging from drugs and abuse to negative peer pressure.

Because of this, we have a surprising mix of people who form the homeschooling world of today. They cut across all religious creeds and all regional borders. Their chief aim is providing meaningful and productive education through a means that strengthens the bond between all the members of the family.

All these families have one main thing in common - a long enduring commitment to the sanctity of childhood. The children in these families are accorded a primary position. Many believe, and, I think, rightly so, that home schooling allows parents to bring up their children in a more natural and caring environment.

Public schools can make a child nervous, diffident and downright mean. Children who get their education at home are protected from these damaging, negative influences until they reach an age where they can withstand them.

Home-schooling draws the whole family into the quasi religious task of teaching. Everyone is put to work. Both the parents together form a bond with the children. Any experience can be turned into an educational experience. Both the parents are aware of exactly what is going on in their child's head.

Parents also have a greater control over the kind of religious and moral values that the child is taught. Even watching a film together can become an educational experience. Trips to the libraries, zoos, museums and other places become educational as well as recreational.

A home-schooling family is primarily dependent on the income of one earning member. That means that often outgoings have to be curtailed and proper planning of expenditure is necessary. This helps to bring the family members together and everybody becomes involved in the process of saving money.

Just having a parent at home to supervise, to nurture and to care for the children brings with it a lot of love and caring. Even the husband takes part and there is just no room for complacency.

Yes OK, problems still do sometimes occur, and there will be many misgivings in your mind, but when you know that your children can always rely on you, and your kids know it too, then homeschooling becomes a very rewarding experience.

Homeschoolers love to do arts and crafts. They are more relaxed at home and seem to be more creative than children that are going to a public school. You will want to have items at home so that your homeschooler can make items when the mood strikes them and you also don't have to spend a lot of money doing that.

Young children love arts and crafts and it's easy to find things that they will love to do. They love to paint, you can make paint out of whip cream and add food coloring for non-toxic paints for younger children. Giving younger children cut out shapes and glue- they will be able to design their own masterpiece. Since they are learning basic skills you can give them safety scissors and let them get used to cutting out things. Other cheap items that you can obtain for their arts and crafts would be feathers, beads, yarn and play dough.

For older children you will want to have something that they can create more complex crafts. Maybe you can teach your child to crochet, or knit. Maybe you like to sew; sewing would make a good craft project for children. There are plenty of things that you can incorporate for children to do crafts.

No matter what age your child is, you can always find something for them to do, and keeping supplies on hand will save you money in the long run. Always keep a box of supplies for them. You will want to keep crayons, chalk, paper and beads and other things that can use to make arts and crafts. This is also great for rainy day projects.

There are many recipes that you can make your own play dough, or bubbles that you can use for home school crafts that are inexpensive to make up and can be made with minimal effort and time. It's easy to make play dough at home, and if you keep it sealed in a plastic zip lock bag you can use it over and over again.

You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a great supply of arts and craft projects. A quick look online and you can find many age-appropriate projects and patterns that you can print online and always have something for them to get creative with.

Considering homeschooling for your child? Do you know the pros and cons of homeschooling? Homeschooling provides a very flexible learning environment for your child. You also have control over your child's curriculum. But how you handle this control decides whether homeschooling is an advantage or not.

Can you as a parent, but not a certified teacher, successfully teach your child what they need to know to become productive and prosperous adults? Yes, but you must go in knowing that this is a tremendous responsibility. However the reward is priceless.

One major advantage of homeschooling is the fact that you can pick a curriculum that mirrors your own religious and moral beliefs, something that cannot be done in public schools. You have control over shaping your child's values.

However, successfully homeschooling your child demands the following two requirements from the parents. First, a true desire to teach your child. Second, a willingness to put forth the effort to make it happen.

The desire to homeschool must be true if you are to be successful. Homeschooling is not a walk in the park. It takes time and effort to teach your child and have them reach their full potential. Some subjects may be easy for you and your child, others may take a lot more work. If you are homeschooling out of a sense of duty or obligation, you may soon find yourself without the determination to go on.

A major disadvantage of public school is the vast differences in each class. Each student has different learning styles and each class has various discipline issues. A public school teacher just cannot devote enough individual time to each student to ensure they are working at their full potential. This is where homeschooling excels.

A distinct disadvantage to public schooling is that everything is preplanned, from the curriculum to the amount of time devoted to certain subjects. If students are intrigued about a certain area, very little time can be expended to go more in depth. On the other end of that, if students don't understand a subject, very little extra time can be devoted to ensuring the entire class understands.

A major advantage with homeschooling is the fact that you control the teaching pace and curriculum. If your child is struggling, whether they need an extra 30 minutes or 3 hours, you can adjust your teaching schedule to make sure they understand before moving on. Likewise, if you find a subject your child gets excited about, extra time can be allotted to fuel their personal educational quest.

A big disadvantage to homeschooling is the amount of personal time you must devote to it. You must figure out which curriculum you will teach, determine the schedule, keep up the records, and learn different teaching styles. But the reward from all this effort is well worth it.

You may find that teaching your child is even more rewarding for you than it is for your child. There is nothing like watching your child grasp and apply concepts that you taught. If you would like to develop a special bond with your child, homeschooling may be the way.
The Seton Correspondence Course for Home Schooling Students and Parents Who Are Catholic

The Seton home schooling program was initially designed as a Catholic home education course out of the all-catholic Seton High School in Manassas, Virginia. The Catholic home school society grew fast and demand for the school's new home curriculum course was high.

This religious home school course has been used by scores of Catholic families who need to home school their offspring full time at their own residence. The training courses are fully accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. When students finish the program, they can officially finish high school. They will receive a certified diploma.

Nowadays this religious based curriculum is utilized by more than 10,000 principally Catholic students all over the world. Seton has in addition turned out to be the chief Catholic publisher in the United States for school-aged students. The home education school with its numerous home school books is famous worldwide.

You can be convinced that Seton Home School Course is not a part of a "degree mill" but is recognized on a national scale as an accredited learning curriculum for home school students. Seton home study course requires students to go through 22 credits to graduate from high school, with each credit representing a year taken in a given subject area for kindergarten through twelve. Appropriate secondary school accreditation makes it superior for home school students who are enrolling in college to become accepted.

Seton's course offers the essentials when it comes to study curriculum such as English, Math, Science as well as more Christian oriented lessons. The lessons give a moral basis of Catholic teachings to increase the abilities of the parents to be the main instructors of their own children with home-based schooling. The course gives a moral foundation of Catholic instruction to increase the abilities of the parents to be the primary educators of their individual children with home school.

The Catholic Church has continuously taught to go ye into all the world, but Catholic home schooling parents can firstly evangelize their children in a spiritual residence through catholic home-schooling instruction from K-12. The entire emphasis is on the eternal good of the young person.

So if you are a Catholic and desire to make a genuine difference in the child's upbringing, think about home school. Seton is plainly the best choice. You will be happy you chose it.

In recent years, home schooling has become extremely popular especially with middle and upper-middle class families. There have been many arguments before about home schooling. Teachers say that there are advantages as well as disadvantages in home schooling but it appears that the former outweigh the latter and therefore, a lot of families are now selecting home schooling over normal schools.

Cultures vary enormously and relationships within the family are affected by culture too. In some cultures, family bonds are quite strong, but there are also those who don't have very good relationships with other family members at all. However, through home schooling, family relationships are enhanced. Parents have to spend enough time with their kids because of the home schooling program and the children will have to listen to their parents as well. Communication is much improved and both parties will learn about the importance of both speaking and listening.

A lot of families prefer home schooling because of its flexibility. However, since the cost of home education is a bit higher than traditional schools, the financial standing of the family is very important. However, even without considering the financial factor, many parents will still go for home schooling, because it can ensure their children's safety. Public schools often have dangerous situations that can affect kids terribly, but if they are in a home schooling program, they can stay away from these situations and their parents will be there to supervise them.

Instead of placing the kids at a public school, many parents would prefer home schooling because the learning environment in public schools is not that conducive. In public schools, very young pupils may experience difficulties that can affect them socially, mentally, and academically for a long time. Experts that have conducted surveys, claim that children learn better in a good environment surrounded by loved ones. Another advantage of home schooling is that children can learn according to their ability. You can't just give a new lesson, if the previous one hasn't been learned yet. It may take longer, but the results are better.

As said earlier, home schooling is a tad more expensive. However, if you think that you can cut down your child's educational expenses, you're probably wrong. Home schooling expenses are almost the same as those of traditional schools. However, if you participate in the forums of the parents of home-schooler's, you will discover that there are ways to reduce costs. Of course, you will have to spend on the resource materials, computer, and internet, but you can also use external events like cultural meetings, public libraries and many others.

You will be given even more cost-saving ideas, if you contact other parents. The Internet provides endless possibilities and with a bit of research, you can surely come up with ways to ease the costs. If you don't want to hire teachers, then you will have to learn the lessons as well. You have already studied the various subjects in your kids' educational program, so you only need to review them. You can get further learning material online or the bookshop and later on, teach your kids.

Therefore, it is plain to see, that home schooling is definitely the best option, particularly, if your child is still very young. So, it all depends on you and your child, whether they decide to continue this kind of education until they graduate for college.

Would you like your kids to get better grades in French at school? Or perhaps you're moving to a French speaking country?

No matter what your reasons may be for wanting your child to learn or improve their French, have you ever considered a kids French online course?

Below are some reasons why kids French online courses are even better than school teaching and why you should consider it a worthwhile investment:

1. Have you heard of the four elements of education? They are; speaking, listening, reading and writing!

For kids to learn any new subject most effectively, all four elements have to be utilized in the learning modules. Unfortunately, only reading and writing are focused on when it comes to learning languages in western schools!

The problem with this approach is that kids become bored much more easily as they feel less engaged with the learning process! Not only that, but what has been learned is much more readily forgotten!

There are kids French online courses that use all four key educational elements, which therefore solves this problem, making the learning process far more effective!

2. Most kids French online courses have downloadable audio modules so that your kids can put the material onto their mp3 players! They can listen to it as often as they like, which makes learning easy!

3. The games and exams which are provided are fun and challenging, testing your kids at every level! Something that is not easily and often enough provided at school!

4. The forums provide chat window facilities which enable your kids to interact with other French students, in French of course! This provides unique reading and writing practical experience that is sadly lacked at school!

5. The forums also offer, providing you have a head set, the opportunity for your kids to speak French to their new friends. This completes the four elements with listening and speaking skills!

6. You could go for a personal tutor! They are really good and typically cost around $40 per hour! However, for a one off refundable fee, you can get a kids French online course!

Kids French Online courses continue to give excellent results at helping kids learn the beautiful French language! If your children need to learn to speak French for any reason then i suggest you take a look at a Kids French Online course!

by Colin Jones

If a survey by the National Center For Education Statistics is to be believed, roughly 1.1 million children underwent home schooling in 2005 alone. That is a great deal of children. Not so long ago, homeschooling used to be an extreme statement - something like a declaration of independence.

It was the conservative Christians who pushed for homeschooling in the 1980's and legalized it in every State. But nowadays the typical homeschooling pupil is not religiously motivated.

Later surveys indicate that parents are really fed up with the public school system where a lot of the learning is superficial and compulsory. They are also concerned about the negative environment in school, ranging from drugs and abuse to negative peer pressure.

Because of this, we have a surprising mixture of people who form the homeschooling world of today. They cut across all religious creeds and all regional borders. Their chief goal is providing meaningful and productive education through a means that strengthens the bond between the various members of the family.

These families all have one major thing in common - a long standing commitment to the sanctity of childhood. The children of these families are given a primary position. Many believe, and, probably, rightly so, that home schooling allows parents to bring up their kids in a more natural and nurturing environment.

Public schools can make a child nervous, subservient and downright mean. Children who receive their education at home are protected from these damaging, negative influences until they attain an age where they can withstand them.

Home-schooling draws the whole family into the quasi religious task of teaching. Everyone has a role to play. Both the parents together form a bond with the children. Any experience can be turned into an educational experience. Both the parents are aware of exactly what is going on in their child's head.

Parents also have a greater say over the kind of religious and moral values that the child is taught. Even watching a film together can become a learning experience. Trips to the libraries, zoos, museums and other places become educational experiences as well as recreational ones.

A home-schooling family is usually dependent on the income of one earning member. That means that often outgoings have to be curtailed and proper planning of expenditure is necessary. This helps to bring the family members together and everybody becomes involved in the process of saving money.

Just having a parent at home to supervise, to nurture and to care for the children brings with it a lot of love and caring. Even the husband chips in and there is just no room for boredom.

All right, problems do crop up, and there will be many misgivings in your mind, but when you know that your children can always count on you, and your kids know it too, then homeschooling becomes a richly rewarding experience.

Everyone will run into at least one person, maybe more, who will tell them that they shouldn't homeschool. The decision to homeschool often isn't popular, and isn't an easy one to make. Dealing with homeschooling nay-sayers will have to be dealt with ahead of time, and the choice in how your child is educated is entirely up to you.

Regardless if you have a Bachelor of Arts in Education or not, one of the quintessential arguments of a homeschooling nay-sayer is that you're not qualified to teach your own child. I say poppy-cock to this argument! You have already been teaching your child since birth, if you're a parent. Why wouldn't you or your spouse be qualified to teach your child how to read or do math, if you could teach them how to talk, walk, and use the restrooms themselves?

Besides being "unqualified," other nay-sayers will tell you that teaching a child is too difficult. What I find even more difficult is the thought of having to teach with 18-20 five and six year old's several subjects all in one day. That is a difficult job; teaching one child to read is not. You can do it!

If you are wanted to homeschool, another argument you might hear by nay-sayers is that children need socialization. I'm not sure I want my children to learn all the things they learn at school and I am sure you feel the same way. Not all lessons are given by the teachers but rather are learned as the result of being with other children.

To this argument, I say that 95% of the children in public schools are less socialized than homeschooled children. Homeschooled children can deal with their peers and can carry on intelligent conversations with people of all ages. Public schools are artificial and create not true to life societies. It just doesn't happen, and it won't happen, that there won't be a time at any point in your life that you're not going to deal with people of all ages.

These are just a few of the comments that you'll likely hear as you are researching the possibility of homeschooling your child. All I can say is that it's okay if you don't know everything you're told you need to know. Take that as an opportunity to learn right along side your child. Since you want what is best for your child, you will be giving them the opportunity to learn at their own pace and concentrate on the things they are interested in learning.

More and more parents are turning to home schooling as an alternative to traditional education. Doubtless, this makes sense. Our homes are where we learn most of what life requires of us; and no teacher can do as much for a student as a parent does by talking, reading, and otherwise instructing a child. Home schooling extends this, and does so quite effectively: in fewer hours per day, home-schooled children frequently cover more material than students in traditional schools.

Accredited Home School Programs

The definition of home schools is the education of children outside of traditional schools where the pupil is taught by the parents at home. Utilizing accredited home school programs are considered by some to be a better alternative when it comes to the education and safety of their children.

Accredited home school programs are similar to the curricula of traditional schools, but the method of instruction is through parental supervision and self-study. Thus the parents are assured that the studies their children get through home schooling is similar to what they would be getting from regular schools.

Do Not Confuse Home Study and Home Schooling.

This term pertains to studies done at home temporarily if a student is not able to attend the regular classes in a school due to physical restraint or temporary confinement at home that resulted from an accident or injury. With accredited home school programs the parents have direct control over the children's studies, unlike home study.

Students can learn with accredited home school programs regardless of age or their status. The programs that accredited home schools offer are suitable for everyone from pre-school aged children on up to high school students. The home school curricula can either be taught by the student's mother and/or father.

Families choose to home school their children instead of sending them to public schools for a variety of reasons. Homeschooling helps parents and children form strong bonds. In addition, parents have direct control over their children's learning using accredited home school programs. They do not necessarily have to follow the traditional school curriculum.

Use Accredited Home School Programs

Using accredited home school programs could also provide benefits for people who live very far from their local schools. A significant amount of money could be saved by removing transportation costs from their list of expenses. Depending on your needs, the home school schedule can always be adjusted to your convenience.

Accredited home school programs can satisfy both the educational needs of the child and the safety concerns of the parents. More and more parents are opting for home schooling as a safe and sane alternative for their children’s education. With home schooling, there is no threat of gang violence, random shootings, drug dealing, or other negative activities. The fact that there is greater parental control over what is being taught makes home schooling an increasingly popular option.
