In recent years, even decades, home schooling, or the practice of educating your child or children within the home as opposed to sending them to a public or private school, is slowly making its way back to the educational mainstream.

This alternate way to educate elementary and high school children dates back to 1906 in the United States when the Calvert Day School in Baltimore, Maryland offered the "curriculum in a box". They partnered with a National Geographic advertisement during that time. Shortly after five years, almost 300 children used Calvert's instructional materials to home school. About a century later, this method, as well as many other methods and educational materials developed, spread quickly not only within the U.S. but also to 90 other countries all over the globe.

Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Edison, Dakota Fanning (a famous Hollywood actress) and Albert Einstein are some, but certainly not all of the notable people who have been home schooled.

All through history, the way home school education has been taught has been quite effective. But, with advancements in technology and the yearning to learn has increased in the home school student, modifications have been made to provide a more stimulating curriculum, encouraging our children to reach for the stars.

Searching through the vast resources available on the world wide web under the subject of home-schooling, it could be positively said that there has been so much improvement on how homeschooling is done through its long history. From the very simple methods and materials, new ones that are more complex are now available.

Think field trips when home schooling your child or children. Going to the zoo will have many benefits to your child's education. How about the library where they can choose books that interest them while learning how the library works. There are so many things that a home school child can experience that public or private school children cannot because of budgets. Spark their interest to learn while not letting them get bored.

Conventional methods of home schooling does not necessarily work for every child. Keep some excitement going on in your home school by using exercises and activities to spark your child's enthusiasm. Modifying the home school experience will keep your child excited about what they are learning.

Home schooling, as opposed to sending your child to a public or private learning institution, is slowly making its way back to the educational mainstream.
There are many more benefits of home schooling than just the obvious few. If you are contemplating taking your student out of the public education system or are thinking about beginning home school for your child you should learn what home school education entails.

Parents Have Control of the Environment

One of the benefits of home schooling is the ability for the parent to have control of the environment. A home schooled child doesn’t have to worry about crowded schools, poor staff, or problems like drugs, gangs and guns. Homeschooling will allow your children to circumvent these problems and focus on a quality education.

Religious Teaching is Important for Some Parents

For the parents that religious instruction is important there is no problems. Public schools are forbidden to do any religious instruction. Sending your child to a parochial school costs a lot of money and there is no guarantee that their education will be any better. The best answer is a Christian home schooling curriculum of your own. If you want a curriculum for your child that emphasizes math or science, you can do that too. The best thing about the benefits of home schooling is that what you think is most important for your child to gain from his education. You will be able see that your child gets it in his or her home schooling.

Homeschooled Children Progress at Their Own Speed

One of the best benefits of home schooling is that the homeschooled child is able to progress at his own speed with learning. And it is always faster than in a regular classroom. The students in a class with 30 or more others do not always have this luxury. There is a daily schedule to follow and if a child has failed to grasp a concept when the class moves onto a new topic, then that learning opportunity may have been lost forever. The homeschooled child can continue to work on each topic until he has thoroughly mastered it. And when he masters it faster there is time to learn more things he would never get in a classroom.

There is No Funding in the Public School System for Special Cases

The public schools do not have the money or time to give the students hands on attention, using what is claimed to be the best method of learning. This can be achieved in a home school program with much more time and money to spare. Studies have proven that with hands on learning through home schooling your child can learn more easily and retain the information longer.

Opportunity to Learn Much More

Besides the more directed learning, one of the benefits of home schooling is that children will also be able to gain more knowledge. A public school isn't able to accommodate the learning needs of every child. Home schooling offers children the opportunity to learn more, but to learn it more efficiently and retain more without distractions.

The Greatest Benefit of Home Schooling

The greatest benefit of home schooling is the fact that the child can sense the deep love that they receive from their parents. There is trust and sense of adventure that develops between parent and child as they explore these new horizons together. Children will treasure the gift of being home schooled for the rest of their lives.
